LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE

We think living in the Lowcountry is a pretty sweet deal, and as followers of Jesus, we know the greatest thing we can do for anyone is to show them some LOVE! So, we put two great things together and are calling it Love Where You Live!

OUR PARTNERS

These service opportunities are provided through Cornerstone Church’s partnerships with local organizations. Check out their missions, visions, and values below to get started!

Programs for Exceptional People (PEP)

The purpose of PEP is to promote independence, social interaction, and employment opportunities for individuals who live with intellectual disabilities. They provide an inclusive environment where members read, learn, exercise, work, and engage with peers.

There are plenty of daily structured activities on the schedule that are specialized to help members grow and focus on their strengths.

How can i help?

If you have experience or are interested in working with adults with intellectual disabilities, or if you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form, and one of PEP’s staff members will reach out to you about next steps!

Child Abuse Prevention Association (CAPA)

MISSION: CAPA exists to break the destructive cycle of child abuse and neglect by equipping parents, children, and their caregivers with necessary skills, knowledge, and values.

VISION: All children deserve to be loved, nurtured, and kept safe from intentional and unintentional harm.

How can I Help?

There are three opportunities to serve with CAPA.

THE OPEN ARMS CHILDREN’S HOME PROGRAM

This is a home that serves teenagers that have been removed from an abusive or neglectful situation and are in the foster care system. The home can house up to 15 teenagers at any given time. The teens typically range in ages from 13-18 years of age. Groups are welcome to provide a meal for the group home as CAPA has an ongoing weekly meal sign up.

AMAZON WISH LIST

This is an ongoing list of needs for the foster children that individuals can choose to purchase from. These items will be delivered directly to the foster care programs.

CAPA’S CLOSET THRIFT STORE

The store is located at 1340 Ribaut Road in Port Royal SC and is open Monday-Friday, 10AM-5PM, and Saturdays, 10AM-3PM. Groups are always welcome to set up a time to volunteer with donation collection, sorting, processing, pricing, and placing items out on the storefront for purchase. All proceeds raised at the thrift store help support CAPA and the children and families that CAPA serves. Groups can also do a donation collection amongst themselves. All items are welcome including shoes, clothing in both adult’s and children’s sizes, household items and furniture, toys, books, games, and other similar items.

RADIANCE PREGNANCY CARE CENTER

Need help navigating an unexpected change in your body and in your life? Radiance Pregnancy Care Center offers guidance, options, and support during every step of the way through free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds, and abortion care and education.

HOW CAN I HELP?

The biggest way to partner and support Radiance is through your giving here at Cornerstone. By giving to Cornerstone Church, you are giving to Radiance as Cornerstone has committed to donating diapers and car seats that women at Radiance need to best care for their families.

If you’re interested in volunteering, Radiance also has a volunteer form to complete, and one of their staff members will reach out to you about next steps.
